Kathryn Thomas is a experienced and enthusiastic piano teacher in Lafayette, LA. She began teaching as a college student in 1999 and earned her Bachelors of Music in May of 2002 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has maintained a private in home studio since 1999, and developed piano studios at The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra's Conservatory of Music (2001-2011) and the Music Academy of Acadiana (2010-2012).
Her performance experience ranges from accompanying soloists and musicals to church services and masses at St. Mary's Catholic Church and Holy Cross in Lafayette.
In addition to teaching and performing, Kathryn supports her musical community by having served as Vice President of the Lafayette Area Music Teachers Association (LAMTA), being an active member of Louisiana Music Teachers Association (LMTA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and having served on the board of the Acadiana Symphony Women's League.
Jacqueline Savoie is an experienced and certified pianist, vocalist and music teacher from Lafayette, LA. She comes from a music family, and began teaching as a young girl assisting group piano lessons with her mother. She then started to accept beginner private piano students in 1996, and began accompanying choirs in church in 1999. From a young age she sang with may choirs, and at weddings and funerals with her family. She was a member of the OAKE National Children's Honor Choir for 3 years which brought her to Salt Lake City UT, Minneapolis MN, and Baltimore MD. During college she was honored to sing with a large choir for the debut of a new composition by Paul Baker in Carnegie Hall in NYC in 2005. She continued to play, sing and accompany for choirs throughout college and earned her Bachelors of General Studies with a concentration in Music from ULL in 2009, and then later her certification for Vocal Music Education K-12 in 2015. She taught music for the Lafayette Parish School System for 4 years. Her performance experience ranges from church services and masses, weddings and funerals to choir festivals and solo performances, musical theater shows, Christian contemporary, blues, swamp pop and classic R&B with local bands.
A Graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USL, 1990), Bachelor of Music Education with Louisiana State Certification in Vocal Music , K-12 (1993) and extended studies in piano, voice and methodology: Kodaly Level I (2007), McNeese State University, Lake Charles , LA and Orff Level I (2009), Northwestern State University , Natchitoches, LA.
Mrs. Elaine has over twenty two years of combined experience as a classroom music teacher, chorus director and piano and vocal instructor at public and private/ parochial schools in the following school systems: Lafayette Parish , St. Landry Parish and Iberia Parish. As a North Lewis Elementary Music Teacher in New Iberia , LA she was awarded " Teacher of the Year 2002-2003" for her work with students, parents and teachers as a music educator. Having worked with all types of learners in various settings she believes that music takes us to a special place where everyone can listen, learn and enjoy.
Elaine began her music journey as a ten year old singing , playing the piano and the organ in her family church and at special events in her community. Knowing that music is her mode of expression she continues to share inspirational and uplifting keyboard and vocal melodies . She also enjoys composing music , painting with water colors, reading , writing and sewing.
Elaine embraces this opportunity to teach and celebrate the gift of music with students of all ages at The Piano Studio.
